We read PUR's listing for the 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup on 9 October 2026 and looked at what its sun protection and survey claims can and cannot tell you. We have not worn this product.

- Buildable from sheer to full

- Compact is easy to carry
- SPF 15 is low, and powder goes on thin
- Survey results shown without sample size

- Contains retinol, which some people avoid
The short answer
Consider it if
- You want quick, natural-looking coverage from one compact.
- You prefer mineral makeup without talc.
- You already wear a separate sunscreen underneath.
Skip it if
- You want this to be your only sun protection.
- You are pregnant or avoiding retinoids. The formula's Ceretin Complex includes retinol, so ask your doctor.
- You want coverage that hides everything in one pass.
Why SPF 15 powder is not sunscreen
The SPF number on any product is measured with a thick, even layer: 2 milligrams on every square centimetre of skin. For a face that is roughly a quarter teaspoon of product. Nobody applies that much pressed powder. A normal dusting is a small fraction of the test amount, so the protection you get is well below the label.
The label itself is modest too. Dermatology bodies such as the American Academy of Dermatology recommend SPF 30 or higher for daily use. PUR's own directions say to reapply every two hours when using it for sun protection, which few people will do with foundation.
What the percentages do not say
The listing quotes four results: 95% said skin looked smoother, 91% noticed more even tone over time, 89% found it comfortable all day and 87% felt their complexion looked more youthful.
The page does not say how many people were asked, how long they used the product, or who ran the survey. These are also opinions, not measurements. "95% said skin looked smoother" could describe 19 of 20 people after one use. Read them as "most testers liked it" and nothing stronger.
Formula and finish
PUR describes a soft pressed powder with a natural, demi-matte finish and coverage you can build from sheer to full. It is labelled talc free, paraben free, vegan friendly, non-comedogenic and dermatologist tested.
The "skincare" part is the Ceretin Complex, which PUR describes as retinol with ceramides. Retinol in a daytime powder is unusual, because retinol makes skin more sensitive to sunlight. The concentration is not published and is likely low, but it is another reason to wear real sunscreen with this.
The recommended Chisel Brush is sold separately. Any dense, flat-topped brush does the same job.

FAQ
Is PUR 4-in-1 enough sun protection?
Not by itself. SPF 15 is below the SPF 30 dermatologists recommend, and powder is applied far more thinly than the amount used to test SPF.
Does it contain retinol?
Yes. PUR's Ceretin Complex combines retinol and ceramides. The concentration is not published.
Is it good for sensitive skin?
PUR says it is non-comedogenic and dermatologist tested. Patch test first, as with any new product.
Did you test it?
No. This review is based on PUR's published listing.
Verdict
As a quick, buildable mineral foundation for $34, the 4-in-1 makes sense. As sun protection it does not, and the survey figures tell you little. Wear sunscreen underneath and buy it for the makeup.
